Christie Matrix StIM

The Christie Matrix StIM™

The Christie Matrix StIM™ - a breakthrough simulation display solution - was recently awarded the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) 2009 Innovation Award for New Technology as well as the Military Training Technology 2009 Red Ribbon award for Best Program. The Christie Matrix StIM display pictured above features a 1x3 blended array on a toroidal curved screen measuring 18.7 ft. wide by 4.02 ft. tall. Utilizing the technologies of Christie Twist™, Christie MotoBlend™, Christie AccuFrame™ and Christie AutoCal™, the display showcases multiple scenarios of flight simulation at Guam in WUXGA resolution from CAE's Medallion® 6000 image generator. With an increased color gamut through LED illumination, there is a wider operating envelope in this projection system.

The most advanced simulation and training projection system in the world, the Christie Matrix StIM is a scalable environment display system that provides the unique capabilities of achieving eye-limiting resolution while stimulating Night Vision Goggles (NVG) for revolutionary new capabilities in NVG training. The unique lamp-less illumination system of the Christie Matrix StIM offers unprecedented stability, reliability and years of continuous operation. Designed and engineered with Christie expertise, this system features extraordinarily long life, quality and ease of service.

In addition to the standard RGB components that are typical of most projection technologies, the Christie Matrix StIM offers a separate near-infra-red (NIR) illumination source that directly stimulates actual NVGs. This feature allows balancing between the visible and the NIR images without compromising one for the other. To fully leverage this feature, Renaissance Science Corporation's Interservice Common Service Module (ICSM) computes the optimal display drive parameters based on a physically accurate model of the underlying database and environmental dynamics.
