Cassidian selects projectiondesign® for STINGER missile training system

projectiondesign, leading Norwegian projector and image-processing company, will supply 26 F32 series ReaLED LED illumination projectors and Multiple Image Processors to Cassidian, an EADS company. The projectiondesign products will be used to upgrade and retrofit a Cassidian dome training system for the Stinger man-portable surface-to-air missile. The 20-meter dome with a 340-degree field-of-view is expected to be complete in November. "We look forward to such a tremendous improvement for visual acuity and ease of use," said Hans-Juergen Rau, director, customer support sales export, simulation and training at Cassidian. "In addition to the high performance of the new projectiondesign display system, the Stinger Dome Trainers will show the potential for dual use and facilitate numerous training such as joint-fire support teams, forward air controllers and forward observers."

In this system, projectiondesign's F32 projectors will be integrated with Multiple Image Processors for display on to the 20-meter wide dome projection surface. The processors will be automatically calibrated to align images on screen during soldier training.
