ROBERT CLODFELTER
Director of Engineering
Barco

Robert Clodfelter is a Director of Engineering at Barco where he leads the design and development of visualization systems for the military, civil, commercial, and academic markets. Under his guidance Barco has designed and manufactured collimation systems, front and rear projected dome systems, rear projection ultra high resolution tiled walls and immersive environments. Industry leading image quality in the form or multi-channel fidelity, resolution, colorimetry, luminance, and contrast are the common threads binding these diverse systems.

Throughout his twenty-six year career in the visual simulation field, Mr. Clodfelter has evolved along with the technological trends shaping the industry. He has specified, designed, or developed projector products based on cathode ray tubes (CRT), transmissive liquid crystal displays (LCD), digital light projection (DLP), and liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) modulation technologies. In addition to projection technologies, he has also led teams in the development of automatic and manual maintenance and alignment systems in support of these systems.

A long time supporter of the simulation community, Mr. Clodfelter has authored of over a dozen papers in the field of visual system analysis and multiple channel display systems. He was secretary and assistance secretary of his local Society of Information Display (SID) chapter for five years, and has been chairman or co-chairman of the IMAGE Displays Special Interest Group for five years as well. He is a member of SID and is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Ohio.
