STEPHEN R. FISCH

Director of Engineering
MarineSafety International

Steve Fisch has been the Engineering Director at MarineSafety International (MSI) for the last 13 years. MSI is a subsidiary of FlightSafety International (FSI). Steve has been in the simulation business since earning a BSEE from Cornell University. He held various positions at Link Aviation during the late 60's and early 70's, where he specialized in motion/control loading systems, analog design, and real world avionics design. While there, he designed the GAT1 and GAT2 trainers, the solid-state successors to the widely used Link Blue Box Trainers.

He left Link in 1972 to help form the simulator division of Atkins & Merrill, which later became the engineering and production provider for FSI and which eventually became the Tulsa, Oklahoma based Systems Simulation Division (SSD) of FSI. With FSI Steve held several positions including Senior Systems Engineer, Manager of the Flight Dynamics Group, and Manager of Systems Engineering. For a number of years he directed the design, development, integration, and testing of the company's simulators, and the installations in airline and original FSI Training Centers.

At MarineSafety, Steve is responsible for all engineering activities at the MSI headquarters in New York and at its Newport, Norfolk and San Diego Centers. His area of expertise for a number of years has been in image generation and display systems.
